IASIA 2026: Athens Is Ready to Welcome the Public Administration Community

Diogo Pereira,

In just two weeks, the IASIA community will gather in Athens, Greece, for its 2026 Annual Conference. Hosted in cooperation with the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government (EKDDA) from 12 to 16 October, the event will bring together scholars, practitioners, educators, and public officials from around the world to exchange research and experience under the theme “Rethinking Governance for a Changing World.”

This year’s conference comes at a particularly meaningful moment, as IASIA celebrates its 65th anniversary. The more than 600 contributions received reflect the community’s strong engagement with the theme and promise a programme shaped by perspectives from different regions and areas of public administration.

Across Working Group sessions, thematic panels, keynote addresses and a dedicated PhD Seminar, participants will examine how public institutions are adapting to change and learn from approaches developed in different settings. The conversations will continue beyond the formal sessions, with opportunities to reconnect with colleagues, form new partnerships and strengthen the relationships that sustain the IASIA community throughout the year.

Registration remains open for those wishing to take part. As final preparations get underway, prospective participants are encouraged to register for the conference and explore the programme and practical information.

The European Group for Public Administration (EGPA) invites scholars and practitioners to propose new initiatives for its 2027 Annual Conference, taking place at Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary, from 24 to 27 August 2027. EGPA provides a European forum for public administration scholars and practitioners to present research, exchange perspectives and develop collaborations across public administration, public management and public policy. The call welcomes proposals for three formats: Permanent Study Groups (PSGs), Ad Hoc Groups (AHGs) and Specialised Panels (SPs). EGPA looks forward to welcoming new initiatives, perspectives and research communities that will enrich its 2027 Annual Conference and contribute to the development of public administration research across Europe and beyond.

The conference introduced a call for papers across fourteen thematic tracks and an interactive programme to help participants navigate its activities.
